Cerebra CEO Fikret Sebilcioglu discussed the evolving fraud risks driven by digitalization, the importance of ethical culture, the role of artificial intelligence, and key findings from the ACFE’s Occupational Fraud 2026: A Report to the Nations in his interview with Marketing Türkiye.

Cerebra CEO Fikret Sebilcioğlu shared his insights with Marketing Türkiye on how fraud risks are evolving in the digital age, the growing importance of ethical culture within organizations, and the expanding role of artificial intelligence in fraud prevention.

Sebilcioğlu emphasized that while risk maps in the past primarily focused on employees, financial processes, and accounting controls, today’s risk landscape has become far more complex.

He noted that suppliers, distributors, intermediaries, consultants, and other third parties have become an integral part of companies’ risk profiles, highlighting that organizations must now manage not only their own employees but their entire business ecosystem.

Commenting on the findings of the Occupational Fraud 2026: A Report to the Nations, prepared by the ACFE, Sebilcioğlu said:

“Asset misappropriation is present in 90% of reported fraud cases, while corruption and conflicts of interest appear in nearly one out of every two cases. Conflict-of-interest and bribery-related risks, billing fraud, theft of company assets, and cash theft remain among the most common schemes. Although financial statement fraud is less frequent, it continues to cause the greatest financial losses for organizations.”
